Partnering Interests | Boehringer Ingelheim

Partnering Interests

We look for partnerships grounded in cutting-edge science, trust, curiosity, and a long-term vision.

By listening, learning, and exploring together from the very beginning, we want to make advancements that have the power to change lives. We’re turning bold ideas into the next breakthrough medicines.

Where we partner

We’re not just looking for deals.

Our team is looking for true collaboration focused on:

Take a look at our areas of interest and let’s explore what we can achieve together.

Note: We’ll typically respond to you in under seven business days. Email communication is not intended for adverse event reporting.

Cardiovascular-renal-metabolic diseases

If a patient has one cardiovascular, renal or metabolic condition, they’re likely to have another1-4. With this knowledge, we’re putting an emphasis on understanding the diseases individually and together – with the goal to change the face of health for everyone.

Computational innovation

Computational innovation identifies and builds confidence in new therapeutic concepts, increasing the opportunity for success across our portfolio. With advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, and rigorous scientific thinking, we're designing safer, more effective molecules. This data-driven approach is helping us move faster, make smarter decisions, and bring breakthrough therapies to patients.

Eye health

We're on a path to help stop preventable vision loss. Treatment often starts too late – when the damage has already occurred2  5-6. We need to understand disease progression better to detect diseases earlier and to help preserve eyesight.

Immunology & respiratory diseases

We’re reimagining how chronic inflammatory and fibrotic diseases are understood and treated—by targeting the shared biology that drives them. We believe that by building a deeper understanding of the common master mechanisms, we will be able to uncover novel therapeutic concepts that can transform care across multiple conditions.

Neuroscience & mental health

With precision psychiatry, we dive deep into the neurobiology of mental health symptoms. Our goal is to move away from ‘one size fits all’ solutions. Instead, we’re considering the unique needs and symptoms of each person living with a mental health condition. We extend this approach to nociplastic pain and symptoms in dementia/neurodegeneration.

Oncology

We are approaching oncology research from two angles: advancing cancer cell-directed therapies that target key cancer drivers and using hallmarks to directly kill cancer cells. In parallel, we’re exploring new ways of directing and boosting the immune system against cancer cells. Smart combinations of these approaches could offer great benefits for people living with cancer.

Technologies / biotherapeutic technologies

Cutting-edge technologies and biotherapeutic platforms are critical engines of innovation—accelerating timelines from concept to clinic. Our global network of partners has already helped us pioneer AI-driven discovery, novel antibody formats, and delivery systems that aim to reshape the future of medicine.

This allows us to bring the best science forward and get breakthrough therapies to patients as quickly as possible.

Other ways to partner

Expanding our reach – Research Beyond Borders

Research Beyond Borders explores emerging areas of science to open new doors in disease areas or modalities. It helps us expand where we can help patients in the future.

Do you have a disruptive idea or technology that has the potential to transform patients’ lives?

BI X – Our digital innovation lab

From ideation to scale-up, BI X’s daily business is to explore new possibilities in healthcare through technology. As a collaborative testing space, BI X works together with Boehringer Ingelheim to co-create and validate digital solutions that address real-world challenges, transforming ideas into prototypes. By driving digital transformation, we help define the future of healthcare for both humans and animals.
