Shanghai
Boehringer Ingelheim has been active in China since 1994. Over the years, the company’s presence has grown significantly, now employing more than 3,000 people across the country. Among other offices and facilities in various Chinese cities, Shanghai stands out due to its strategic role for the company. It is the seat of the headquarters of Boehringer Ingelheim in China‘s mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and both business areas (Human Pharma, Animal Health) operate in the metropolis.
Zhangjiang Plant
The Zhangjiang Plant is crucial for Human Pharma global supply, supplying both the Chinese market and exporting products to over seven Asia-Pacific regions. Production covers medication for a broad number of therapeutic areas including cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM), respiratory and oncology.
Animal Health Global Innovation
Initially put into operation in Shanghai’s Zhangjiang Hi-tech Park in March 2012 and upgraded in 2018, Boehringer Ingelheim’s Animal Health Global Innovation (GI) China is the earliest R&D Center established by a multinational pharmaceutical company in China. GI China has been dedicated to the R&D of livestock vaccines as well as exploring vaccines and treatments for companion animals.
Biopharmaceuticals Manufacturing Site in Shanghai (Oasis)
Inaugurated in 2013, this facility provides Boehringer Ingelheim’s contract manufacturing business customers with the opportunity to have their products manufactured in mainland China.
