Ingelheim – The Company Headquarters

The corporate headquarters in Ingelheim, Germany.

Located within proximity to Frankfurt, Ingelheim has been the location of the headquarters of Boehringer Ingelheim ever since the company’s foundation in 1885. At that time, Albert Boehringer purchased a small tartaric acid factory. Over the course of the 20th century, the company gradually expanded from Ingelheim to become one of the leading, research-driven biopharmaceutical companies in the world. Today, more than 10,200 employees work at the Ingelheim site in Production, Research, Development, and Administration.

Production facilities are a cornerstone of this site.

On these vast company grounds with more than 762,000 square meters, Boehringer Ingelheim produces various pharmaceuticals, covering medication for a broad number of therapeutic areas including cardio-renal-metabolic (CRM) and lung diseases. Within the company’s global production network, Ingelheim is also responsible for the production of all new active ingredients and medications during the market launch.

Since 2024, the Power Station Ingelheim has been supplying the site with green electricity. It is one of the most environmentally friendly power plants in Rhineland-Palatinate.

Ridgefield

Ridgefield is home to the company’s US headquarters. The site serves as a key research center for human pharmaceuticals.

Dortmund

Boehringer Ingelheim microParts GmbH at the Dortmund site is the Device Center Operations in the group of companies and the world's only manufacturer of the RESPIMAT® inhaler.

Biberach

The largest research and development center of Boehringer Ingelheim is located in Biberach, Germany. It is one of the largest sites in Europe for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
