Our ambition is to drive innovation, create value in areas of unmet medical need and find solutions for humans and animals living in underserved communities – to enable a healthier, sustainable and more equitable future.

Already today, we are helping millions of people worldwide live longer, healthier lives. But our ultimate goal is to create social impact for the entire population - capable of serving as many patients as possible. To achieve this, we address healthcare and wellbeing across the whole patient continuum of care: from pharmaceutical innovation over prevention and healthcare delivery to tackling access.

We focus on rapid innovation, integrating sustainability along our value chain and fostering multi-stakeholder collaboration. In particular to improve the lives of humans and animals facing barriers to healthcare.

Our framework: Sustainable Development for Generations

Our sustainability framework, "Sustainable Development for Generations", is based on three pillars and focuses on health for humans, animals, our employees and communities, and the planet. We aim to embed sustainability in everything we do. Our 2030 commitments align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) and the Paris Climate Agreement, building on initiatives we've been implementing for many years. We strive to integrate sustainability into our core business, which is uniquely positioned to address the interconnected relationship between humans, animals, and the environment.

In 2023 we evolved our strategy further, to focus on nine sustainability programs that sharpen our focus on health equity and where we believe our company makes a relevant contribution to society. Our commitments

By 2030, we aim to achieve the following commitments:

• MORE HEALTH : Expand access to healthcare for 50 million people, investing 35 billion EUR in health innovation and research to tackle non-communicable diseases and an additional 250 million EUR in partnerships to combat emerging infectious diseases.
• MORE POTENTIAL : Improve the lives of 50 million people around the globe by engaging employees, partners, and social entrepreneurs to collaborate and create solutions that achieve more economically sustainable, inclusive, and healthy communities.
• MORE GREEN : Be carbon neutral in our operations (Scope 1 and 2), cut our resource footprint by half, and continue to create best practices in areas such as water stewardship and waste-to-landfill.
